Does anyone know of any existing bit regen circuit add-ons for the TNC-1/2
clones? I've come up with a single-chip add-on to the modem-disconnect header
that seems to work and still allows the TNC to talk when it needs to. But I
want to see how other folks have done this.

I have uploaded to the SimTel Software Repository (available by anonymous
ftp from the primary mirror site OAK.Oakland.Edu and its mirrors):
SimTel/msdos/packet/
aprs505u.zip Hams: Automatic Packet Reporting System update
APRS provides real-time display of operational traffic via UI frame
broadcasts and map displays. A station with information to contribute
transmits, and all stations on frequency receive and display it.
APRS505U updates APRS504U, introducing the ability to receive and plot
DX cluster reporting.
aprs505u.zip contains aprs505.exe and other files updated since aprs503a
was released. aprs503a.zip is also required for a complete package.

To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu
Hi Darren,
I also have DR-1200 that I tried to modify for 9600 about a year ago.
I got a Mod from the factory that turned out to not work! )-:
I have since removed the Mod but I think a correct Mod for the DR-1200
was published in CQ in early '93 - May, I think, but I know it was '93.
I have not tried to find the Mod or try it yet.
If you can't find it let me know I have a friend who has it.

Awhile ago I posted an article asking for comments about GTOR. There
were very few comments!!
Once again, GTOR users, is GTOR all it's cracked up to be, or is it not?
I'm a PK232 user, so have no other way to evaluate this new mode, at
least for the moment!
Would sure like to get some comments. Have read that several thousand
GTOR upgrades have been shipped, so I know there are users out there. OK
users, what's the deal?

I've had GTOR for about 2 months ... I haven't found it an improvement
over Pactor in keyboard to keyboard contacts. But I haven't had enough
experience in trying file transfers to see if it works better on a
longer file.

Subject: Help please - Packet & TCP/IP
To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu
First of all, I appologise if this is already a FAQ somewhere, but I
couldn't see it.
I am relatively new to packet and using an MFJ1274 - TNC2 clone.
Wish I'd got into packet years ago, as I'm only just realising the
level of connectivity offered. Anyway, being an Internet fan (adict?)
I quite naturally picked up on the fact that some of us are using TCP/IP
software with TNC's instead (as well as) the usual simple terminal
packages being used by amateurs like myself.
My TNC has KISS mode available and I've downloaded and used the KA9Q NOS
TCP/IP prog. I have managed, through trial & error to attach to my COM2
serial port with:
ax25 mycall G0FLB
attach asy 0x2f8 3 ax25 ax0 1024 576 9600
I have even managed to make an initial connection to a local digipeater,
but once connected, I don't see any text etc..
I DO see stations using the 'ax25 heard ax0' command.
What do I do next ?
What are the benefits ?
What am I doing wrong ?
Why am I so ignorant ??
I am really keen to explore this mode, as I love experimenting. After all
that's what our hobby is all about - n'est pas.
Many thanks to anyone who can get me started in this direction.

Is there any programs to run a packet BBS under linux? It would
be even better if there were source available for customization.
Thanks for any help..
